Theatre includes: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Iceman Cometh, The Judas Kiss, Copenhagen, Democracy, Hamlet, The Real Thing (all also on Broadway), Marguerite, Amy’s View, Closer to Heaven, Our House, Up for Grabs, On an Average Day, Tonight’s the Night, Grease (West End and tour), West Side Story (West End and tour), Spend Spend Spend, Neville’s Island, Follies, Carmen Jones, Mutiny, Passion and Sunset Boulevard (tour). Mark is an associate and lighting consultant to the NT and his designs include: The History Boys, Mourning Becomes Electra, Edmond, Henry V, Playboy of the Western World, All My Sons, A Little Night Music, The Absence of War, Murmuring Judges, Hamlet, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Les Parents Terribles and Racing Demon (the last three also on Broadway). Mark has lit numerous operas for ENO, the Royal Opera House, WNO, Opera North, Glyndebourne Festival, Scottish Opera, Opera de Nancy and Hong Kong Festival. Film and television include: The Tall Guy, Rowan Atkinson in Boston, Under Milk Wood and the Wales Millennium Centre opening royal gala. Mark acts as lighting adviser to the Almeida and was the recipient of the 1992, 1995, 2000 and 2002 Olivier Awards for Lighting Design. He was nominated in the same category in 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2001 as well as being nominated in 1996, 1999 and 2005 for the US Tony Award for Best Lighting Design. Recently Mark was awarded a Welsh BAFTA. Most recently, Mark was the recipient of the 2006 Tony Award for his lighting of The History Boys.
